Google announced today the Product Reviews Update 2022 update, the fifth version of Google Product Reviews, on September 20 Th; It is called The Sep 2022 Product Review Algorithm Update.
Google revealed this update a few weeks ago; the previous update of the product reviews was in Jul 2022.

Google announced this update a few weeks ago. The previous update on product reviews was in July 2022.
This is the fifth update to Product Review, a search ranking algorithm update that aims to rate product review-related content on the web as most helpful to searchers.
The first product reviews update was released on April 8, 2021, the second on December 1, 2021, the third on March 23, 2022, the fourth on July 27, 2022 "July product update," and the fifth on July 27, 2021. It was released on September 20, 2022. The new is called the September 2022 Product Review Update.
Google announced this update on the Google Updates reference page from Twitter here.
Google says, "For awareness, the September 2022 core update has not fully completed but it's mostly done. We expect it to be complete within a week and will share on our updates page when done."
Google product reviews update
Google Product Reviews Update aims to promote the content of the reviews beyond most typical information you see on the web. Google said it would encourage these product reviews in its search results rankings.
Google does not directly penalize low-quality product reviews with "poor content that simply sums up a group of products." However, if you provide this type of content and find that your ratings have gone down because other content is higher than yours, it will feel like a punishment. Technically, according to Google, this is not a penalty against your content, but Google rewards sites only with more accurate and helpful review content that ranks higher than your own.
This update is assumed to be unrelated to other types of content and is for product reviews only.
In August last month, Google launched a helpful content update, which complements it, indicating that Google aims to provide a great user experience in all types of content.
Google clarified how this update relates to the previous content update in Aug and said:
- "If you see a change and wonder if it's related to the core update or the product reviews update:
- If you produce product reviews, then it's probably related to that.
- If not, then it might be related to the core update."
The update may be linked to the previous one if the publisher writes about product reviews.
Google updates are expected to take 1-2 weeks, but the product reviews update is mostly updated.
